Configure SharePoint Outgoing E-mail

Configure Outgoing E-mail for a Farm
1. In Central Administration, click System Settings
2. In E-Mail and Text Messages (SMS) section, click Configure outgoing e-mail settings
3. In Outbound SMTP server text box, input the SMTP server name for outgoing e-mail
4. In From address text box, input the e-mail address as you want it to be displayed to e-mail recipients
5. In Reply-to address text box, input the e-mail address to which you want e-mail recipients to reply
6. In Character set drop down list, select the character set that is appropriate for your language
7. Click OK

Configure Outgoing E-mail for a Web Application
1. In Central Administration, click Application Management
2. In Web Applications section, click Manage web applications
3. Select a web application, click General Settings > Outgoing E-mail
4. In Outbound SMTP server text box, input the SMTP server name for outgoing e-mail
5. In From address text box, input the e-mail address as you want it to be displayed to e-mail recipients
6. In Reply-to address text box, input the e-mail address to which you want e-mail recipients to reply
7. In Character set drop down list, select the character set that is appropriate for your language
8. Click OK
